EXERCISE VARIATION

A large amount of gym users are accustomed to their regular exercise regime and are exercising due to their habitual, regimented programming or daily routine. For the common majority of “longer term trainers” we don’t really recognise training to be overstimulating and it has generally become more of a self discipline.

It seems a little disappointing to note particularly myself, as a trainer, to hear most people don’t incorporate variety in their training regime. Most gyms are well equipped & offer an unending opportunity for new & different exercises and methods.

Try a class you haven’t tried, if you’re a bit hesitant bring a friend.
Try a new machine each week, focusing on a new muscle group.
Resort to some free weights such as barbells, dumbbells or even a cable routine.
Also it’s important to regularly target different fitness components such as strength training, core strength, power, muscular endurance and flexibility etc.

When you incorporate new activities, try and give an emphasis on enjoyment, try different things on different days and keep your body guessing.

On a final note, remember we are not just limited to the gym, give outdoor activities a go,such as bushwalking, cycling, kayaking etc. and make your workout fun!!
